EASTER CHICKS, BIRDS OF PREY AND EGG HUNT ALL SIGNAL THE ARRIVAL OF EASTER AT RUXLEY MANOR

Whether it is an encounter with creepy crawlies, a fascinating insight into some majestic birds of prey or a traditional egg hunt, there is no shortage of ideas and events to keep youngsters engaged at Ruxley Manor Garden Centre this Easter.

There will be opportunities to Meet the Animals in the company of staff from Ruxley Manor’s pet and aquatic department and to get up close and personal with insects, giant reptiles and, of course, those irresistible Easter chicks.

Staff from Eagle Heights - one of the UK’s largest bird of prey centres - will be joined by a few of the 50 or more species who reside at their Eynsford base for two 30 minute flying displays on bank holiday Monday (April 5), while Easter egg hunts will be staged throughout the day on April 2 and 3 to ensure there is a traditional flavour to the seasonal proceedings.

For those youngsters with green-fingered aspirations the large centre – based just off the A20 at Sidcup – is hosting its popular Ruxley Rascals’ Potting Workshops in which young visitors work with centre staff to create their own arrangements from seasonal plants and flowers.

James Evans, Ruxley Manor director, says: “As a fifth generation family-run business, we have always tried to make a visit to Ruxley Manor much more than just a retail experience.

“Throughout the year we stage a full programme of events, talks and activities that has established a reputation for offering something for customers of all ages. And with Easter traditionally one of the markers for the arrival of spring, this is a great time to get the whole family outdoors for some seasonal fun.”
