GARDEN CENTRE TRANSFORMS GRADE II LISTED MANOR HOUSE INTO CHILDREN’S DAY NURSERY
A manor house with a history dating back in parts to the 15th century is being transformed into a new children’s day nursery.
Ruxley Manor Garden Centre at Sidcup is converting the Grade II listed building – empty since 2000 - into a facility that will offer 43 places to children aged between three months and five years.
The works - which started at the beginning of this year, will take around 30 week and involve an investment of around £450,000 - will see many of the Manor House’s original features uncovered and restored in line with statutory requirements for the provision and delivery of childcare services.
“The Manor House is a striking and integral part of Ruxley Manor Garden Centre and we are delighted that it will be reborn as an impressive and important new addition to our business,” says director James Evans.
“Choosing a day nursery is an important decision for any parent and whilst looking for childcare ourselves my wife and I realised there were hardly any nurseries that offered the sort of facilities we wanted. Grace’s Day Nursery will provide a high quality service, have extended opening hours, easy access and modern facilities within a striking and lovingly-restored historical building.”
Scheduled to be fully open this autumn, Grace’s Day Nursery will have a team of childcare professionals and operate from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm weekdays. Ruxley Manor’s extensive grounds and car parking – as well as its easy access to the M25, A20 and A2 - will also ensure drop-offs and pick-ups are easy for parents and guardians.
Grace’s Day Nursery will soon be recruiting for staff and will shortly launch a website (www.gracesdaynursery.co.uk). In the meantime, anyone interested in Grace’s Day Nursery can email: info@gracesdaynursery.co.uk
