Title:GLEEFULL ANTICIPATION AS WHITE OAK LEISURE CENTRE UNVEILS SUMMER ACTIVITY PROGRAMME
Date:07/07/2010

First it was Hannah Montana, then it was High School Musical but the entertainment sensation of the moment – certainly as far as youngsters are concerned – is the massive American import Glee.

And now the comedy-drama that focuses on a high school choir and intersperses their stories with vibrant interpretations of songs from famous artists past and present is to provide the inspiration for a special workshop as part of White Oak Leisure Centre’s annual programme of sports, games, activities and pursuits for the summer holiday.

Organised by Sencio Community Leisure, the five-week calendar of events at the large Swanley centre aims to offer something to engage and inspire every youngster regardless of whether their interests lie in the sporting and active or the creative and artistic.

Heading up the sports offering is a full calendar of swimming courses for all ages and abilities, water polo, non-contact boxing, junior squash, mini tennis, basketball, archery, street hockey, netball, gymnastics and roller skating.

Alongside the Glee workshop, dance and entertainment figure prominently in a programme that includes sessions inspired by the in-vogue Lady Gaga, the popular street dance craze and aforementioned High School Musical.

There is a chance to perfect the skills and moves of a cheerleader, take to the White Oak pool in “sea scooters”, enjoy a choice of arts and crafts sessions and join the ever-popular Creepy Crawlie Show at which children come face-to-face with a weird and wonderful collection of insects, reptiles and snakes.

The under-fives get their own programme featuring toddler fun time, music and movement and Mini Dribblers football, while for any youngster interested in trying their hand at golf, Sencio’s Lullingstone Park Golf Course is offering tuition as part of its junior development programme.

NRgize runs at White Oak Leisure Centre from July 26 to September 2. For further details call 01732 865665. The full programme can also be downloaded by visiting www.sencio.org.uk
